To enable teachers to identify and correct specific learning disabilities, including dyslexia, in children that come in the way of academic progress, a workshop was held in the city.
The teachers were apprised of a unique brain gym programme to overcome learning hurdles in children.
“It is estimated that almost 30% of children in schools suffer from learning disabilities including dyslexia. The training programme focuses on training teachers how to reconnect the child’s brain function with a series of scientific neurological brain exercises that will re-establish enhanced brain integration,” said Ritu Malhotra, co-founder, Ajna Centre for Learning, which has developed the ‘ brain gym’ programme.
“The idea is to make children more creative and productive throughout their lives,” she said. “Every child has 100% power, and is uniquely talented. When those natural abilities are identified, encouraged and guided, the child's chances for a successful, rewarding, self-fulfilled life will be assured.”
“To accomplish this it is necessary to re-establish a connected and stress free brain function,” she added.
“Training programs like these are a major step towards equipping teachers and parents with the right tools and techniques to help each child realise his or her unique gifts and inspire students to have confidence in their own abilities.,” said Aranha, director of Rosary Education Group.
The teachers participated in this workshop underwent an intensive training comprising of a series of neurological exercises that activate efficient brain function, and communication techniques with which to support the child’s learning processes.
