Pomegranate Juice: A Superfood Star

If juices were Hollywood stars, pomegranate juice would be on the cover of people. It’s a rising star in the superfood community, and for good reason. Its combination of nutrients and low sugar is a perfect prescription for more energy. According to research at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, long-term consumption of pomegranate juice may help slow, as well as possibly protect against, both heart disease and cancer.

Flavonoids, a fantastic class of healthful plant chemicals, are more concentrated in pomegranates than in grapes, and the antioxidant capacity of pomegranate juice is two to three times that of red wine or green tea. That’s a pretty impressive resume.

Because sexual energy is closely related to energy in general, it’s worth noting that pomegranate has been called a “Natural Viagra”. Research in the Journal of urology suggested that long-term intake of pomegranate juice may have a positive effect on erectile dysfunction.

And for you ladies, it’s worth noting that the pomegranate itself has long been associated with love, erotica, and energy. In Turkey, the bride throws the fruit to the ground because traditional beliefs hold that the number of seeds that pip out will predict how many kids she’s going to have. Enough said!
