A report in the British Medical Journal looked at the results of 16 studies that involved the use of Avandia or a similar diabetes medication Actos.
The researchers found a modest but significant increase in the odds of certain heart conditions in those who took Avandia.
U.S. health officials restricted the use of Avandia back in September.
Studies in recent years have differed about whether it boosts the risk of heart disease and death.
Those involved in this recent report say patients should talk to their doctors about the risk versus the benefit of taking the drug.
