My skin feels dry and tight, but can you moisturise under a beard? If so, what is the best product to use?

“You can use moisturiser on bearded faces, though it will not penetrate as deeply,” says Roy Patterson at the Barber at Alfred Dunhill. “Pankhurst Everyday Moisturiser [£18] wakes up skin with menthol and relieves dryness with macadamia-seed oil. After cleansing, massage down the jawline to follow beard growth, making circular movements to stimulate blood flow.”

THE FIX
For a cheap way to give your face a lift, try dyeing your eyebrows. Gary Richardson, colour guru at Daniel Hersheson London (020 7201 8797), says it works wonders and he has seen a rise in both women and men requesting the service. Meanwhile, men now comprise 40% of visitors to the Debenhams Brow Bars (twice as many as last year) and not only to pluck away a few strays: many opt for threading to achieve a more groomed brow. The department store is even planning Guybrow nights to cater for the extra demand.
