How New iPads are helping saving lives in hospitals

Hospital Kaweah Delta Health Care District in the district of Visalia, Calif., has ordered 100 iPads which will be distributed among its employees. The idea is to facilitate access to files of patient monitoring as well as results of X-ray, blood tests, electrocardiograms and other tests.

The director of technical services of the hospital, Nick Volosin says IPAD is the best way to replace laptops and other specialized tablets already used by hospitals, as well as being portable, has a battery that lasts up to 10 hours and is considerably more cheaper than those other devices.

The nephrologist Roger Haley, who bought his own device and it uses as a test, said their daily lives easier, “now do not need to move up a workstation to access the materials they need. I can do anything there, that moment where I am” he said.

The iPads will be synchronized through the Citrix software, which turns devices like smartphones and other tables in a virtual desktop. Users may access their own computer by IPAD making transfer of files and data and allowing quick access to the entire history of the patients. This system was already being used by the hospital to sync iPhones, and now will do the same with the new device from Apple.

The only drawback was found by the hospital in time to order the gadgets. Still according to Mashable, Apple restricts applications in three iPads per person, due to an apparent unavailability. But the director of the hospital managed to get the company opened an exception.
